Technical requirements

Web browsers

The website can be viewed with its design and layout intact with the following web browsers: Internet Explorer 6, Firefox 1, Safari, Mozilla 1.7 and Netscape 7.2 or later versions - these browsers currently represent just over 90 per cent of visitors.

Certain web browsers that are based on earlier versions of Mozilla (before 1.7) are not completely supported. This means that versions of Netscape that are older than 7.2 do not display the website correctly.

HTML and style templates

The HTML code is validated XHTML 1.0 Strict, and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) 2.0.

Fluid design

The website has a fluid design on certain web browsers, which means that the width of the columns varies according to the size of the web browser window. The text adjusts itself depending on which resolution and text size the visitor has chosen. The design is optimised for a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels.

Plug-ins

The Swedish Government Offices' Information Services has studied the recommendations of the Swedish Agency for Public Management concerning the use of open standards in public administration and recommends that in the longer term the Government Offices should consider starting to publish in an open format that is compatible with all platforms. A Government inquiry is in progress that will go into these issues in greater depth.
