The Government has today decided that Sweden will take part in World Expo 2008 in Zaragoza, Spain. "Water and Sustainable Development" is the theme of the Expo, which will take place between 14 June and 14 September.

"The World Expo in Zaragoza is expected to attract six million visitors and is an excellent opportunity to present Swedish leading edge expertise in the area of water and environmental technology. We know from experience that there is enormous international interest in the world-leading environmental know-how available Sweden," says Minister for Trade Ewa Björling.

Sweden's participation will be financed by a number of Swedish enterprises operating in Spain and Sweden. The Swedish Trade Council will be leading the project, which has a budget of EUR 1.7 million. The Government has appointed Staffan Björck as Commissioner General of the Swedish pavilion.
