Globalisation Council
Never before have so many people been raised from poverty to prosperity in such a short space of time. This is part of what we call globalisation. World trade is increasing, economies are integrating, the exchange of information is growing and the opportunities for communication are getting better. Countries that were closed are opening up
to the outside world.
What does this new situation mean for Sweden? First and foremost it means that our dependence on the world around us is increasing. The opportunities are growing. But in order to benefit fully from the new opportunities, we need to understand what is going on and to be prepared to adapt to changing conditions.
This is why the Government has set up the Globalisation Council. It consists of experienced people from a number of sectors of society.
Its role is to analyse how best to equip Sweden to address the challenges of the future. The Council will work through expert reports, seminars and debates. It will endeavour to apply open working methods so that this important debate can be conducted in the broadest possible way.
Together we can make sure that Sweden will also be a winner in the age of globalisation!
