Foreign minister meeting in Malmö

The Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) is to hold its meeting of foreign ministers in Malmö on 12-13 June 2007. The foreign ministers of all the countries round the Baltic Sea will be participating.

During the meeting, the ministers will discuss what has been achieved in the fifteen years of CBSS cooperation, particularly in the areas focused upon during the Swedish Presidency. These concern energy and environment, civil security and trade and investments.

The ministers will also discuss the areas that the CBSS should be working on in the future and how to make cooperation more efficient and operational so as to meet the new demands of globalisation and other developments.

The CBSS consists of the 11 Baltic Sea states and representatives of the EU Commission. Sweden assumed the Presidency after Iceland on 1 July 2006 and Latvia will take over the Presidency from Sweden on 1 July 2007.
