Social services, disability and rights of the child
Minister for Children and the Elderly Maria Larsson is responsible for social services which includes elderly care, individual and family care, and support measures to people with disabilities.

She is also responsible for disability policy, which is cross-sectoral and intended to effectively promoting and maintaining respect for human rights.

The Government's child rights policies are also within her responsibility and they aim to apply and strengthen the rights and interests of the child in society, based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Another area of responsibility is ANDT - alcohol, narcotics, doping and tobacco.

At the EU level, she participates at meetings of the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council.
