New ambassadors to Athens and Amman
The Government today appointed Håkan Malmqvist as Sweden's Ambassador in Athens, Greece, and Charlotta Sparre as Sweden's Ambassador in Amman, Jordan. They will both take up their posts in the autumn of 2008.
Håkan Malmqvist is currently head of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Americas Department. Mr Malmqvist has previously served as deputy head of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Department for Global Security and at the Swedish Embassy in Ottawa; he has also held other positions at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Government Offices.
Charlotta Sparre is currently Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Sweden to the European Union in Brussels where she is responsible for issues concerning the Middle East, Iraq and Iran. Ms Sparre has previously served at the Swedish Embassy in Cairo and at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Stockholm.
