Maud Olofsson meets with China's Vice Premier Wu Yi

Minister for Enterprise and Energy Maud Olofsson has met China's Vice Premier Wu Yi during her visit to Beijing. Vice Premier Wu Yi showed great interest in Swedish know-how in the field of environmental technology and they both agreed on deepened cooperation between Sweden and China.

- Ms Wu Yi and I got on very well and I am positive towards deeper cooperation between Sweden and China in the field of environmental technology. It is important that Sweden can show that it is possible to combine higher GDP with reduced climate impact. As Minister for Enterprise and Energy, I regard it as self-evident that Sweden is to spread technological expertise in the field of environment. We must do this to be able to look our children and grandchildren in the eyes, says Ms Olofsson.

Ms Olofsson emphasised the importance of global cooperation in the field of environment where politics, the business sector and research must take the lead. Ms Wu Yi also stressed that Swedish companies had contributed to positive developments in China.

The two women leaders also had reason to speak about the importance of female role models in politics, the business sector and women's enterprise.
