Meeting for better transport in the Nordic and Baltic countries

Today Sweden's Minister for Communications Åsa Torstensson and Norway's Minister of Transport and Communications Liv Signe Navarsete hosted a joint meeting with transport ministers from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia and Lithuania.

The purpose of the meeting was to start a dialogue on how the countries can strengthen cooperation on long-term infrastructure planning in the Baltic Sea region. The positive economic development, not only in our immediate area but also in regions to the east, increases the demand for effective logistic and infrastructure solutions.

- Today, my colleagues and I have taken a first step towards finding a way to make our infrastructure systems work together more efficiently. In doing so we can support the business sector's need of transport in new east-west corridors, comments Minister for Communications Åsa Torstensson.
