Inquiry proposes merging Swedish Trade Council and Invest Sweden
Minister for Trade Ewa Björling today received a report from an Inquiry that has reviewed the agency structures for the promotion of Sweden, trade and investment. Among other suggestions, Inquiry Chair Torsten Ericsson proposes that the Swedish Trade Council and Invest Sweden be merged into a single organisation.

Ewa Björling to meet Moldovan Prime Minister Filat
On 13 September Minister for Trade Ewa Björling will meet Prime Minister of Moldova Vlad Filat for talks. The agenda includes bilateral economic matters, Moldova's closer ties with the EU and a free trade agreement between the EU and Moldova. Dr Björling and Mr Filat will also participate in round-table talks with Swedish and Moldovan companies.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt received Palestine's newly appointed ambassador Hala Husni Fariz, on Thursday 8 September. This is the first time that an incoming Palestinian representative has been formally welcomed at a ceremony at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

Gunilla Carlsson met Secretary-General of SOS Children's Villages
Minister for International Development Cooperation Gunilla Carlsson met Richard Pichler, Secretary-General of SOS Children's Villages, on Wednesday. They discussed a number of issues including the growing crisis in the Horn of Africa and the organisation's efforts in the area. Ms Carlsson also gave an account of the impressions she gained on her recent trip to Somalia and northern Kenya.
Ewa Björling to Berlin
On 6 and 7 September, Minister for Trade Ewa Björling will visit Berlin to attend one of the world's largest fairs for the music and experience industry, Popkomm. She will also meet Vice Chancellor and Minister of Economics and Technology Philipp Rösler as well as Swedish and German companies in the creative industries.
Cooperation with the Eastern Partnership focus of seminar
A seminar within the context of the Eastern Partnership will take place on Friday 2 September, hosted by newly appointed Director-General for Trade Policy Eva Walder. The seminar will focus on capacity development, knowledge transfer and experience exchange regarding free trade agreement negotiations with the EU.
"Closer relations with Eastern Partnership countries and deepened cooperation with them, for example in the trade area, are a priority for Sweden," says Director-General for Trade Policy Eva Walder.
