Ewa Björling to attend investment conference in Bethlehem

State Visit from Greece

The President of the Hellenic Republic Karolos Papoulias will pay a State Visit to Sweden on 20-22 May at the invitation of His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf. On Tuesday the President of Greecemeet Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt at Rosenbad.

New Ambassador to Lithuania

Today the Government appointed Ulrika Cronenberg Mossberg as new Ambassador in Vilnius, Lithuania. Ulrika Cronenberg-Mossberg is currently Sweden's Ambassador in Skopje and is concurrently accredited to Kosovo.

On 29 May Sweden will host an international conference on Iraq. This conference is part of the efforts by Sweden and the rest of the world to contribute to sustainable development in the country. For the next few weeks the Ministry for Foreign Affairs website will have a particular focus on Iraq.

Swedish operation in Chad to be extended

The Government will today submit a proposal to the Riksdag to extend the Swedish contribution to the EU military operation in Chad and the Central African Republic. The Bill proposes that the Swedish operation be extended to October 2008.

Europe meets Latin America

On 16 May the fifth summit between Europe and Latin America will begin in Lima, Peru. Sweden will be represented by Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt, and the summit will see the heads of state and government of EU and Latin American states discuss poverty reduction and issues concerning the environment, climate change and energy. All of which are priority issues for Sweden. Per Norström, deputy head of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs' Americas Department, has answered some questions prior to the summit.
