Total ban on cat and dog fur

Today the Government will present to the Council on Legislation its legislative proposal on penalties for those selling or distributing cat and dog fur or products containing such fur.

Sweden - Europe's new food nation

The minister of Agriculture Mr. Eskil Erlandsson presented his and the Government of Swedens Foodvision - Sweden - the new food nation. The new national objective is that Sweden with its unique landscape, quality of food and knowledge will be Europe's new food nation.

A forest policy in line with the times

The fact sheet "A forest policy in line with the times" is now available. On 18 March 2008, the Government submitted the bill entitled "A forest policy in line with the times" to the Riksdag. This bill stresses the role of the forest for the climate, the need for increased growth in forests and improved nature conservation in forest management, as well as the importance of a strong forest agency.

Minister for Agriculture to speak at FAO High-Level Conference

From 2-5 June, Minister for Agriculture Eskil Erlandsson is heading the Swedish delegation at the summit of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome. The main topic of the conference is how to secure the global food supply in a world of climate change and increased demand for both food and energy. Today Minister for Agriculture Eskil Erlandsson gave a speech at the FAO High-Level Conference on World Food Security.

Climate billion to be presented in the budget

The Government is strengthening Sweden´s climate efforts. The upcoming Budget Bill will allocate a further SEK 1 billion for 2008 to 2010.
