New governing board for Sida
As a further part of strengthening the way in which the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) is managed, the Government has appointed a governing board. This will replace the Advisory Council. The composition of the governing board reflects the need for support in the organisational, operational and financial challenges the agency faces.

Sweden to take over the work to save the Baltic Sea
On 1 July Sweden will take over the Chair of the Helsinki Commission (HELCOM) for the protection of the Baltic marine environment. Sweden will thus take the lead in the work to save the marine environment of the Baltic Sea over the next two years, until 2012.
Sustainable cities Swedish theme at Expo 2010 in Shanghai
The Government is to hold the Sino-Swedish SymbioCity Forum on 1-2 July at the Swedish Pavilion at Expo 2010 in Shanghai. Participants include State Secretaries Elisabet Falemo from the Ministry of the Environment and Ola Alterå from the Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications.

"It is deeply regrettable that uncontrolled whaling, which is taking place due to loopholes in current regulations, can continue for at least another year." This comment was made by Minister for the Environment Andreas Carlgren after the negotiations in the International Whaling Commission (IWC) regarding a management plan were discontinued.
Official website for Swedish support for international involvement in Afghanistan
The Ministers for Foreign Affairs, International Development Cooperation and Defence have launched the 'Sweden in Afghanistan' web portal, which so far is only in Swedish. The portal reflects Sweden's long-term involvement in Afghanistan and aims, in a simple way, to provide a full picture of the Swedish involvement and how the four dimensions - civil, military, diplomacy and development assistance - interact.
Government celebration for Crown Princess Victoria and Mr Daniel Westling
Friday 18 June the Government hosted a major reception in Stockholm City Hall for all of Sweden to celebrate, honour and congratulate the bridal couple. The guests invited represented Sweden's municipalities and county councils.
On the eve of the Royal Wedding, the Government held a dinner in honour of the Crown Princess and Mr Daniel Westling on Skeppsholmen in Stockholm. The Royal Family, the bride and groom and several members of European royal families were welcomed to the Eric Ericson Hall by Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt and his wife, County Council Commissioner Filippa Reinfeldt.
Presentations ahead of the royal wedding
The media centre for foreign journalists who have come to Sweden to cover the Crown Princess's wedding haved opened. A number of brief lectures on topics such as the wedding, the role of the monarchy in Sweden and royal weddings past and present will be held at the media centre. New ambassadors to Zimbabwe, the Czech Republic and Argentina
17 June the Government approved the appointment of three new ambassadors. They are Anders Lidén, who will be Sweden's Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Inger Ultvedt, who will be Sweden's Ambassador to the Czech Republic and Charlotte Wrangberg, who will be Sweden's Ambassador to Argentina.
Gunilla Carlsson to meet new head of UNICEF
On Thursday 17 June Minster for International Development Gunilla Carlsson will meet the new head of UNICEF, Anthony Lake, and they will both also hold a press conference.
