Lithuania's President Valdas Adamkus to visit Stockholm
On Wednesday 14 November, Lithuania's President Valdas Adamkus is to visit Sweden and Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt. The agenda for their discussions at Rosenbad will include the Baltic Sea region, climate and energy issues, the Swedish EU Presidency and other current EU matters.
Russia's Minister of Justice Vladimir V. Ustinov to visit Beatrice Ask
Russia's Minister of Justice, Vladimir V. Ustinov, is to travel to Stockholm for a two-day visit to Sweden on 7-8 November 2007. The primary purpose of his visit is to sign, together with Minister for Justice Beatrice Ask, an agreement on a bilateral programme for cooperation in legal matters between Sweden and Russia.
Nordic ministers to Oslo
The annual meeting of the Nordic Council will take place in Oslo from 30 October to 1 November. In connection with the meeting, heads of government and other ministers from the Nordic and Baltic countries will meet to discuss current political issues. Sweden's delegation will include Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, Minister for Nordic Affairs Cristina Husmark Pehrsson, and Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt. The main topics to be discussed at the meeting are the challenges of globalisation for the Nordic countries and climate change.
The Lisbon strategy progress report 2007
The EU Strategy for Growth and Jobs, the Lisbon strategy, lays the basis for EU's joint work to meet shared challenges. A progress report for 2007 gives an account of the next stage in the Government's policy with its focus on making it worthwhile to work and run a business.
New procedure for the purchase of financial services
The Government Offices is introducing a new registration procedure for financial advisers. The model will be used when the Government Offices needs to hire financial advisers for the issue, sale, purchase and transfer of securities and other financial instruments regarding state-owned companies.
Fredrik Reinfeldt, Cecilia Malmström and Carl Bildt to Lisbon for informal EU summit
On 18-19 October, Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt and Minister for EU Affairs Cecilia Malmström are to travel to Lisbon to attend the informal EU Summit. Among the subjects to be discussed at the Summit by the EU Heads of State and Government are the new Reform Treaty, the Lisbon Strategy and the significance of external trade for growth and employment in Europe.
The Government has decided on allocations for emissions trading
The Government today decided to amend the Emissions Trading Ordinance. The amendment applies to allocation of emission allowances to Swedish companies in the trading period 2008-2012.
"We are now reducing the allocation of emission allowances. This complies with the Commission's decision on the allocation plan, and is completely in line with the Government's ambition to reduce emissions," says Minister for the Environment Andreas Carlgren.

Thursday 4 October, Inquiry Chair Christina Salomonson delivered to Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt her report on the establishment of a national crisis management centre at the Government Offices.
Swedish - South African Commission Meeting concludes in Stockholm
The fifth Binational Commission (BNC) is held in Stockholm on October 3 - 4 under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Maud Olofsson. The South African delegation will be led by Deputy President Ms Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka.
Government presents bill on peacekeeping operation in Darfur
The Swedish and Norwegian governments have notified the UN that they will contribute a joint engineer force of around 400 people to UNAMID, which will take over from the AU-led force by the end of this year at the latest. The Swedish contingent will comprise at most 160 people.
