Gunilla Carlsson to participate in Berlin conference on women's rights

Minister for International Development Cooperation Gunilla Carlsson will visit Berlin on 22 February to participate in a high-level on "Women's Economic Empowerment as smart Economis - A Dialogue on Policy Options".

Together with her Danish colleague Ulla Törnaes, Liberia's Minister of Finance Antoinette Sayeh and Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund Thoraya Obaid, Ms Carlsson will take part in a panel discussion on gender equality, democratic governance and growth in Africa.

During her visit, the Minister for International Development Cooperation will have bilateral talks with Bernd Pfaffenbach, Administrative Secretary of State in the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, and with representatives of the World Bank.

The meeting in Berlin is part of a number of high-level processes during the spring of 2007, when Germany holds both the EU Presidency and the G8 Presidency.
