Talks on a strengthened dialogue between Europe, Turkey and the United States

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the German Marshall Fund and Turkish cooperation partners are organising a seminar to take place on 28-30 January under the title 'Regional Flashpoints and Trilateral Strategies' to discuss some of the most important foreign policy challenges of the day - above all the strategic dialogue between Europe, Turkey and the United States.

"This seminar will be an important opportunity to gather prominent experts, opinion-makers and decision-makers from the United States, the EU and Turkey. Sweden supports the initiative because it is crucial that the strategic dialogue between Europe, Turkey and the United States is strengthened and deepened in key foreign policy issues that affect us all," says Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt.

The German Marshall Fund (GMF) is an independent American think tank that works for greater cooperation between the United States and Europe. The 'Trilateral Strategy Group' project aims to deepen the dialogue on foreign policy issues of common strategic interest, such as the Caucasus, the Middle East and Afghanistan. The project also includes Turkish cooperation partners, given Turkey's ongoing EU accession process, its active foreign policy and growing regional role. The dialogue is also intended to result in analyses and considerations for a wider public.
