Housing and construction

Housing provision

Housing is of central importance to everyone, as it forms a platform both for people,s own private sphere and for social and occupational life. People's homes are often an expression of their identity. This is why it is important to have freedom of choice on housing markets that respond to people's needs and wishes about how they want to live.

People have to be given good opportunities to establish themselves on housing markets in homes with reasonable housing costs. One objective is lively housing environments that promote integration in housing.

Housing markets

The objective is efficient housing markets with long-term stable regulatory frameworks and with sound and predictable conditions for construction, ownership and management of housing in all forms of tenure. Housing of good quality is the aim, and there has to be competition in the construction sector and in housing markets. Supply has to be steered by demand and contribute to an efficient labour market in all parts of the country.
