The Baltic Billion Fund 2

In the autumn of 1998 the Riksdag passed a decision about a second Baltic Billion Fund for the promotion of trade and industry during a five-year period (1999-2003). At the end of May 1999 the Committee on Economic Cooperation in the Baltic Region presented its report which contained proposals on how the funds should be used, and criteria for their distribution. According to the Committee, the objective of the initiative was "to strengthen the position of Swedish companies in the Baltic region and to improve their prospects for participation in the development of the region's business sector". A plan of activities and guidelines for the use of resources from the Baltic Billion Fund 2 have been drawn up by the Swedish Government Offices.

The Baltic Billion Fund 2 was used to implement the supportive measures recommended by the Committee on Economic Cooperation in the Baltic Region to address the needs of Swedish trade and industry.
