The Baltic Billion Fund 1
In July 1996 the Riksdag approved an appropriation of SEK 1 billion for "measures and projects, inter alia, in the areas of food, energy systems, exchange of know-how, infrastructure and the environment, as well as to stimulate trade and investments and further strengthen cooperation between states and industry in the Baltic region". The Baltic Billion Fund 1 was closed by the end of 2002 and by then the Swedish government had granted support to 78 projects.
