Research in the cultural field
The State provides support for research and development work in the culture sector. The funds are used for projects in the areas covered by the Swedish Arts Council (Statens kulturråds), museums with national responsibilities - the National Historical Museums (Statens historiska museer), the National Museum of Fine Arts (Nationalmuseum), the Swedish Museum of Natural History (Naturhistoriska riksmuseet), Moderna Museet (the national museum of modern art), Nordiska Museet (Sweden's national museum of cultural history), the National Archives (Riksarkivets), the National Heritage Board (Riksantikvarieämbetets) and the Institute for Language and Folklore (Institutet för språk och folkminnen). In addition, these funds are also used for basic natural science research at the Swedish Museum of Natural History.
