Conditions for artists
Cultural diversity and free debate are essential to a living democracy and a rich cultural life. It is therefore important that cultural policy takes action to develop and spread the arts and to enable professional artists - actors, musicians, dancers, writers, painters, and so on - to work in good conditions and reach a large public. This is done by providing financial support for artistic actitivty countrywide.
State action for artists mainly aims to create the conditions for a vital cultural life that provides work and a living income for artists. Increasing the interest in and demand for artistic works and performances is therefore a main approach of artist policy. Another important aim is to make better use of artists expertise in all parts of society. In addition, copyright protection and compensation forms are of fundamental importance for the ability of artists to make a living from their work.
