Political leadership of the Ministry

The ministers and state secretaries are responsible for the ministrys political leadership.

Mr Göran Hägglund is Minister for Health and Social Affairs and Head of the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs. Two more ministers serve at the Ministry: the Minister for Elderly Care and Public Health, Ms Maria Larsson and Ms Cristina Husmark Pehrsson, Minister for Social Security. Ms Cristina Husmark Pehrsson is also Minister for Nordic Co-operation.

Politically appointed staff

The ministers and state secretaries have a staff to assist them in political matters. The political staff assist the ministers with political issues, planning and coordination and contacts with the media.
