Summary
The new Cohabitees Act entered into force on 1 July 2003.
Much of the new Act corresponds to the previous provisions. However, an innovative feature is the generally applicable and clearer definition it contains of the concept of cohabitees. The new Act also specifies when a cohabitee relationship shall be considered to have ended.
The full text of the Cohabitees Act can be found in the Swedish Code of Statutes, SFS 2003:376. This brochure gives a brief presentation of the new Act.
