Research and education in land-based industries

Higher education and research in land-based industries (agriculture, forestry, horticulture, landscape planning, veterinary medicine, etc.) is mainly offered at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU).

The SLU comes under the Ministry of Agriculture and is the only university in Sweden that does not come under the Ministry of Education and Science.

In order to provide land-based industries with highly-qualified staff and to generate the knowledge that is needed for the continued development of these industries - not least for sustainable development - higher education and research in this area are financed by government grants.
