International cooperation
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Affairs participates in a number of international forums, including the OECD, the WTO, the OIE and the FAO.
Effective international cooperation is necessary if the Government is to pursue successful policies in global development, trade, biological diversity, etc. On consumer policy issues the Nordic countries cooperate within the framework of the Nordic Council of Ministers. Nordic cooperation is also important on Sami policy issues, since Sápmi (Sami land) extends over several countries.
