Press invitation: Gunilla Carlsson to meet new head of UNICEF
On Thursday 17 June Minster for International Development Gunilla Carlsson will meet the new head of UNICEF, Anthony Lake, and they will both also hold a press conference.

On 1 May 2010, Anthony Lake took up his post as head of UNICEF. The work of the organisation is of crucial significance for several of the Millennium Development Goals. UNICEF has a presence in 155 countries and is able to reach out in a way that few other organisations can.
Sweden is the second largest donor to UNICEF and among its objectives is to strengthen UNICEF's voice in the world for children's rights and to intensify its work concerning children's right to protection against all forms of abuse, including child marriages, violence against children and recruitment of child soldiers.
Anthony Lake has sound experience of international work in security, foreign and development policy and in the humanitarian area. In 2007-2008 he was foreign policy adviser for the Obama campaign.
