Government appoints five new ambassadors
The Government today appointed five new ambassadors. The new ambassadors will represent Sweden in Guatemala, Bangladesh, Moldova, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and the Netherlands.
Michael Frühling is appointed Ambassador to Guatemala. He is currently Ambassador and adviser at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Africa Department. He was previously head of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Colombia. He has also been Ambassador in Havana and served at the Embassy in Guatemala for five years.
Anneli Lindahl Kenny is appointed Ambassador to Bangladesh. She currently works at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Africa Department. Prior to this she served at the Embassy in Nairobi. She has also served at the missions abroad in Geneva, Windhoek, Paris and Manila, and as Secretary to the Riksdag Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Ingrid Tersman is appointed Ambassador to Moldova. She has worked for the Ministry for Foreign Affairs European Union Department. She has previously worked as the Ministry's representative in Mazar-e-Sharif, northern Afghanistan, where she acted as a political adviser and led the Swedish civilian operations. She has also worked in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Central and Eastern Europe Department and European Security Policy Department, as well as the Ministry of Defence.
Lars Wahlund is appointed Ambassador to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. He is currently deputy head of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs European Union Department. He was previously head of the Balkans group at the Ministry's Department for Eastern and Central Europe and has also served at the Delegation of Sweden to NATO in Brussels. He has also served at the embassies in Bonn and Maputo.
Håkan Emsgård is appointed Ambassador to the Netherlands. He is currently head of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs European Union Department. He has worked with European issues at the Ministry since 1997. He has previously worked at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London, where he represented Sweden, Iceland and Estonia on the Board of Directors. He has also worked at the International Department of the Ministry of Finance.
The ambassadors will take up their posts in autumn 2010.
