Carl Bildt to the Nordic-African Foreign Ministers meeting in Senegal
Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt is to attend the Nordic-African Foreign Ministers Meeting to be held in Dakar, Senegal, on 12-13 May. The meeting is an informal forum between foreign ministers from ten African countries and the Nordic countries.
The foreign ministers meet once a year to discuss current foreign policy issues and common challenges. Items on the agenda include peace and security for Africa, economic reforms for development, and democracy and good governance.
The forum was established in 2002 by the then Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Anna Lindh. The African countries taking part are: Benin, Botswana, Ghana, Lesotho, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa and Tanzania.
