Carl Bildt to Athens for ministerial meeting on security in Europe
On 1-2 December Carl Bildt will be attending the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) annual ministerial meeting. This year's meeting is being held in Athens.
The main issue at the meeting will be the future security of Europe and the dialogue being conducted within the framework of the Corfu Process. It is hoped that the meeting will take a decision that establishes an agenda and a framework for a dialogue on European security.
In addition, it is expected that some twenty or so declarations and decisions will be adopted that will be important for OSCE activities in the politico-military, economic and environmental, and human dimensions. The EU is pushing for decisions on freedom of the media, energy security and OSCE police-related activities.
