Carl Bildt speaker at the European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUISS)
Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt will be one of the main speakers at the annual EUISS conference in Paris, due to take place on 22-23 October.
The conference gathers together a number of prominent academics and representatives of EU Member States, EU institutions, other countries and international organisations.
The agenda of this year's conference includes discussions on the impact of the economic crisis on cooperation in the global arena. Particular attention will be given to opportunities to strengthen multilateral cooperation.
"This is an excellent opportunity to debate current challenges on the global security policy agenda, particularly in view of the economic crisis," says Mr Bildt. "It is also an opportunity for the EU to show that it is prepared to listen and learn from other actors in the global arena. This helps make international cooperation more effective and, in turn, strengthens the EU as a global actor."
