Carl Bildt receives award for his contributions to the enhancement of the European Union's global standing
Carl Bildt will receive the 2009 BELA Foundation Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the enhancement of the European Union's global standing.
In presenting Carl Bildt with this award, the BELA Foundation draws attention to his "unique contribution in making 'Europe whole and free' through his past engagement in the Balkans and his current admirable efforts to create a strategic dimension for the European union's presence in the world." Mr Bildt will receive the award at a ceremony in Brussels on 9 December.
Carl Bildt will speak on 'A G3 World - Making the EU a Global Power'. A laudatory speech will be delivered by Dr. Miroslav Lajcák, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic.
