How Do We Manage Climate Change?
On 9 September, Malta's EU Steering and Action Committee (MEUSAC) and the Swedish Embassy in Malta* organized a well-attended symposium in Valletta on "How Do We Manage Climate Change?". MEUSAC Director Dr Vanni Xuereb and Swedish Ambassador Ulla Gudmundson welcomed the 130 participants and presented the climate change goals of the Swedish EU Presidency.
Keynote speaker was Malta's Minister for Resources and Rural Development, H.E. George Pullicino. Maltese Ambassador Michael Zammit Cutajar presented the current state of play in UNFCCC negotiations before the UN Copenhagen climate meeting. Dr Johan Schaar presented the findings of the Swedish International Commission on Climate Change and Development and Dr David Spiteri Gingells, president of Malta's National Climate Change Commission, pointed out important measures to take at the national level. The closing words were delivered by Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said.
