Gunilla Carlsson at seminar on women's rights in Iraq
On 28 May, Minister for International Development Cooperation Gunilla Carlsson is to take part in a seminar and panel debate on the theme 'Iraqi women demand participation in Iraq's future'.
In addition to Gunilla Carlsson, four well-known Iraqi human rights protagonists will be taking part in the panel debate: Asmaa Abunadr, Basma Al-Khateeb, Hanaa Edwar Busha and Bakhshan Zangana. Other participants at the seminar will be the Head of the UN Mission in Iraq, Staffan de Mistura and UNIFEM's gender adviser for Iraq, Dina Zorba. The moderator of the seminar will be Maria Leissner, the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs' Democracy Ambassador.
The seminar is taking place in connection with the international conference on Iraq in Stockholm on 29 May and has been organised by the Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation together with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
A press briefing will take place directly after the seminar with Gunilla Carlsson, Staffan de Mistura, the Iraqi human rights protagonists and others.
