New Ambassadors in Stockholm
On Thursday 31 January 2008, the following four Ambassadors will present their letters of credence - their authorisation to represent their countries in Sweden - to HM The King.
The Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic's newly appointed Ambassador, Marina Isabel Cacéres de Estévez, was born in 1963. After primarily being active in leading positions in the business sector she joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2000 as Special Adviser on UN and other multilateral affairs. Since 2002, she has been the Ambassador in Portugal.
Malaysia
Malaysia's newly appointed Ambassador, Dato Kamarudin Mustafa, was born in 1951 and is a career diplomat. The appointments he has held include Ambassador in Russia, Consul-General in New York and High Commissioner to Ghana.
Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka's newly appointed Ambassador, Ranjith Pemsiri Jayasooriya, was born in 1950. He entered the Foreign Service in 1981 and in recent years has been Director General of the Consular Affairs Division, Director General of the Political Affairs Division, Middle East and Africa and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Sri Lankan Embassy in France.
Madagaskar
Madagaskar's newly appointed Ambassador, Alphonse Ralison (concurrently accredited from Berlin), was born in 1948 and is a qualified economist. Ambassador Ralison has held posts in the country's government on two occasions; in the mid-1990s as Minister of Tourism and in the early 2000s as Minister of Trade. In March 2006 Alphons Ralison was appointed Ambassador in Berlin concurrently accredited to Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Austria.
