Sweden increases support to Afghanistan

The Government today decided to strengthen Sweden's support to Afghanistan. The decisions concern both military contribution to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and the design of a new strategy for the Swedish development assistance to Afghanistan.

Sweden prepared to provide SEK 40 million in aid to eastern Congo

The humanitarian situation has further deteriorated in eastern Congo. Sweden is prepared to quickly provide humanitarian aid amounting to some SEK 40 million, of which SEK 10 million is intended for the UNHCR's work with refugees in the region.

International Conference on Systematic Work for Human Rights

Sweden will host an International Conference on Systematic Work for Human Rights in Stockholm on 6-7 November. Among those attending the conference will be Minister for Integration and Gender Equality Nyamko Sabuni, Minister for International Development Cooperation Gunilla Carlsson and Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg. Some 200 people from around 70 countries will attend the conference.
