Flag raising ceremonies were held at the Riksdag and Karlberg Palace
On Monday 18 March, Sweden’s membership of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was celebrated with flag raising ceremonies at the Riksdag and Karlberg Palace. HM The King, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Micael Bydén took part in the ceremonies. At Karlberg Palace, an address was also delivered to the ambassadors of the NATO countries in Sweden.

Sweden is a NATO member
On Thursday 7 March, Sweden’s instrument of accession was deposited with the United States Government, as depositary of the North Atlantic Treaty. Therefore, Sweden is now a member of NATO.

On Monday 18 March, Sweden’s NATO membership will be highlighted in ceremonies at the Riksdag and Karlberg Palace. During the ceremonies, speeches will be delivered and the NATO flag raised.

The Government is now further strengthening the work towards gender equality and more than SEK 600 million will be invested in gender equality in 2024.
Sweden’s position on the conflict between Israel and Hamas
Fighting between Israel and the terrorist organisation Hamas has now been ongoing since the horrific attacks by Hamas on civilian men, women and children in Israel on 7 October, in which more than 1 200 people were killed and more than 200 civilians, including children and older people, were taken hostage and removed to Gaza.
Sweden's new migration policy
Sweden’s migration policy is undergoing a paradigm shift. The Government is intensifying its efforts to reduce, in full compliance with Sweden’s international commitments, the number of migrants coming irregularly to Sweden. Labour immigration fraud and abuses must be stopped and the ‘shadow society’ combated
